Peppermint Hot Rod
Peppermint is synonymous with the winter holidays, so here is a drink you’ll be sure to enjoy. It’s the Peppermint Hot Rod, complete with whipped cream on top and a lovely festive peppermint stick that will brighten anyone’s mood. The Hot Rod is a vodka drink, best served in an Irish coffee mug, but any clear glassware will do in a pinch.
Fill the mug with equal parts of vodka, peppermint Schnapps, and grenadine syrup for that holiday red color. Two parts of each are recommended. Then, add hot water to fill the mug to the top. Add the whipped cream on top and garnish with a peppermint stick or candy cane. For a little extra dazzle, drizzle grenadine over the whipped cream.
Apple Cider Cocktails
This is a fast and easy cocktail you can make for a crowd. This elixir is a mixture of brandy, maple syrup, apple cider and lemon juice. First, chill cocktail glasses in the freezer. Next grab your cocktail shaker and fill it halfway with ice. Add 1.5 cups of apple cider, 1 cup of brandy, ¾ cup of freshly squeezed lemon juice and 1.5 tablespoons of maple syrup. Shake vigorously for 20 seconds, then pour this delicious goodness through the cocktail strainer and into the chilled cocktail glasses. Garnish with fresh green or red apple slices, and there you have it.
Hoppin’ Hot Scotch Cocktail
The holiday season just wouldn’t be the same without a decadent chocolate cocktail. This one has hot chocolate, butterscotch Schnapps, and amaretto. Yum.
In a mug, preferable an Irish coffee mug, add 2 ounces of butterscotch Schnapps. You can next add a half ounce of amaretto. It is optional, but it gives this warm drink that rich almond aroma, and adds a bit of an extra kick! To that, add eight to ten ounces of hot chocolate, either made with milk or water—it doesn’t matter.
Top with whipped cream and chocolate shavings, and you have a warm and wonderful drink filled with chocolaty goodness.
